Recruitment of researchers at the CNRS

The researchers working at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) are government officials. As such, they are recruited through competitive examinations. These competitions are open every year in all scientific fields, and the deadline for applications is early January. Scientists with a doctorate, PhD or equivalent degree may apply to several types of positions (researcher, research director) depending on their experience and quality of their academic records. The recruitment consists of 2 mains distinct phases: (1) Submission of written documents exposing your past research activities and a detailed research project. (2) Evaluation by a national jury, and invitation (or not) for an oral presentation (10 to 15 minutes) where the candidate defends her/his past research and her/his research project. Prior to these 2 phases, the candidate is strongly encouraged to contact us in order to optimize her/his chance of success to this national-wide competition. The modalities are detailed hereafter.

Competitions proceed according to disciplines or groups of scientific disciplines, i.e. they are managed by dedicated disciplinary and/or interdisciplinary committees of the National Committee of Scientific Research (CoNRS). More specifically, the scientific themes treated in LCE Laboratory are defined by the contours of Section 13 'Physical, analytical and theoretical chemistry' of the CoNRS, including : - Environmental chemistry (dynamics of pollutants, speciation, multi-compartments); – Methodological Developments in analytical chemistry and spectroscopies; - Thermodynamics, kinetics and high-speed process.

If you wish to apply to CNRS competition and join our laboratory as a researcher, please contact us at jean-luc.boudenne@univ-amu.fr and send a pre-selection file including:

- a curriculum vitae detailing your past research experiences, diplomas and an exhaustive list of your scientific production (publications, seminars, oral contributions to national/international conferences, awards).

- one to two pages description of the research project you would like to develop in our lab if you are recruited. The project must be in line with one or more of the themes of Section 13 listed above and should be relevant to research activities tackled in our LCE laboratory (do not hesitate to contact us in that respect).

Following the examination of your file by the laboratory's Scientific Council, we will contact you as soon as possible in order to prepare with you - and if the quality of your records allows it - the CNRS competition.

The dates/deadlines to have in mind in order to optimize - with the help of LCE members - the preparation of your CNRS competition are:

- Sending before 21 November your pre-selection file to the laboratory by e-mail (jean-luc.boudenne@univ-amu.fr);

- After a positive evaluation of your application by the LCE Scientific Council, you will have to elaborate a complete research project with the help of the laboratory members and submit it (together with a ca. 10 pages summary of your past research experience and scientific results) by the beginning of January of 2023;

- If you are deemed eligible by Section 13 of the CoNRS and invited for the oral presentation phase of the competition (decision communicated in February and the oral takes place in March, in Paris), you will then prepare the oral competition with the help of LCE members.

For any further information, please do not hesitate to contact us.
